Mdm Alli d/o Allagoo
Master Teacher (Tamil Language)
Description
Mdm Alli d/o Allagoo joined the Academy of Singapore Teachers as a Tamil Language (TL) Master Teacher in 2016. She was formerly a Mother Tongue Languages Head of Department in schools for 25 years and a Senior Educational Technology Officer at the Educational Technology Division for 13 years. Alli completed her Bachelor of Arts (Tamil Language and Literature) at the Singapore Institute of Management University in 2011, and her Master of Education (Tamil Language) at the National Institute of Education in 2014. She also received the National Day Long Service Medal in 2007, and the Excellent Service Award in 2009 (Silver) and in 2010 (Gold). As a Master Teacher, she works closely with beginning teachers and Teacher Leaders of TL, providing professional learning support and guidance to enhance the teaching competencies of fellow TL teachers. She also conducts several workshops for TL teachers to build their capacity and competencies in the teaching and learning of TL, and is involved in the development of TL resources for the teaching fraternity
Mdm Manjula Ramasamy
Master Teacher (Tamil Language)
Description
Mdm Manjula Ramasamy has been a Tamil Language (TL) Master Teacher since 2013 in the Curriculum Planning and Development Division (CPDD) and subsequently, in the Academy of Singapore Teachers. Formerly a Curriculum Planning Officer at CPDD (TL Unit), and a Senior Teacher for Assessment and Pedagogy at the Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre (UPTLC), she was involved in developing the TL syllabi and instructional materials for both primary and secondary levels, and in coordinating professional development training programmes for TL teachers. She also mentored teachers embarking on overseas immersion programmes and was involved in the implementation of the National Elective Tamil Language Programme at UPTLC. In 2004, she was awarded the Most Inspiring Tamil Teacher Award_._ As a Master Teacher, she guides teachers to be effective classroom leaders, optimising their professional learning and encouraging them to reflect and to innovate. Manjula has contributed to the teaching fraternity through her conference papers and sharing on classroom investigations and research related to the teaching and learning of TL, focusing on language skills especially writing. She hopes to build a community of ethical and competent teachers who work towards instilling the passion for TL in their students and sustaining it as a living language beyond the classroom.
Mdm Letchimi d/o Marimuthu
Master Teacher (Tamil Language)
Description
In her teaching career, Mdm Letchimi has served as a Tamil Language (TL) teacher in several Primary schools and a Secondary school. She has served a stint as MOE HQ officer in the Curriculum Planning & Development Division and Student Development Curriculum Division. She is currently serving as Master Teacher for Tamil Language. She attained a Masters of Education (Tamil Language) in 2008 from the Nanyang Technological University. As part of her teaching career, she has held key positions such as Senior & Lead Teacher and helmed the TL department in both Civics & Moral Education Unit (CPDD) and Character & Citizenship Education Unit (SDCD). She has experiences in developing the instructional materials, both print and non-print for the TL teachers. She has conceptualized and conducted national level symposiums and workshops and had conducted master classes for TL pre-service teachers at the National Institute of Education. Besides, she uses her various professional development platforms to further develop teachers’ content knowledge, pedagogical skills and competencies in the teaching of Tamil Language and values. Mdm Letchimi is a firm believer in facilitating a professional growth mindset among teachers and mentors teachers to build their professional capacity to bring about quality teaching. Mr G Murugan
Master Teacher (Tamil Language)
Description
Mr G Murugan joined the Academy of Singapore Teachers as a Tamil Language Master Teacher in 2024. He was a formerly a Lead Teacher for Tamil Language for 7 years and Subject Head for Mother Tongue for 15 years and Tamil Language coordinator for 8 years in Bendemeer Secondary School.
Mr G Murugan has completed his Bachelor of Literature (B. Lit) at Mailam Tamil college in 1987, Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) at Govt college of Education , Vellore in 1988, Master of Arts (M.A) at University of Madras in 1990 and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in University of Madras in 1991. He has received his National Day Long Service Medal in 2019.
His research interest is in integrating technology and innovative methodologies into the teaching of the Tamil Language, with the aim of fostering an engaging and enjoyable learning experience for students. He is dedicated to sharing his classroom successes and experiences with fellow educators and has a wealth of experience in conducting workshops and sharing sessions for both students and teachers at the cluster level. Additionally, he has actively participated in and presented his classroom research at seminars and conferences on regional, national, and international platforms.
He aspires to serve as a bridge between beginning, and experience teachers and teacher leaders fostering collaboration and development of their professional learning. He aims to leverage information technology to impart language and culture, thereby preparing students and teachers for the future. His goal is to nurture Future ready educators who inspire a passion for joyful learning beyond borders.
